Create in poster form, a project on one of the above topics. Include:

You will present these to the class on MONDAY.........

"Looking for a Job Project" - you will have 5 days to work on this in class.
Friday - 15 places you would look for a job. Think about your interests and abilities. eg. If you enjoy reading - Chapters. If you enjoy animals - Pet Value If you enjoy hockey - Sportsmart
DON'T just go for the fast food restaurant scene!

1. As the course progresses, you will accumulate information/documents for your Career Portfolio.
Your Career Portfolio is due the 2nd last week of Careers Class. From time to time, read through the expectations of the Career Portfolio.
2. Periodically, at the beginning of each class, we will have a short quiz about Careers. Be on time and you will do the quiz. Be late, and you will miss the quiz. Punctuality on the job is of prime importance in the workplace. For many companies, punctuality is productivity and productivity is money. When people are late, companies loose money. Get into the good habit of always being on time.....or a bit early!
Eg. of a quiz. From this description, name the following job:
Description: I teach people of all ages to play musical instruments or to sing.
ANSWER: Music Teacher
3. AUTOBIOGRAPHY
Full Name, Birthdate, Birthplace, Who you live with, Places Lived, Schools attended, 4 things about you from Kinderg. - 8, 4 interests you have now, Travels, Jobs - babysitting, paper route, snow shovelling is a job! Volunteer work, what you love to do, what you hate to do, favourites:books/movies/shows/music, extra-curricular activities.
4. Smart Ideas Assignment
Using Smart Ideas (in Software Tools), create a diagram with a focus (either a subject area eg. music or another focus eg. outside jobs). Include 10 jobs stating for each: the job title, a description of the job and an appropriate picture.

CAREER PORTFOLIO- Part of EXAM/Culminating Task - worth 15% of mark.

1. Table of Contents which lists everything you have in your portfolio.
2. Statement of achievements to date: include school, extra-curricular - in and out of school, work/volunteer, travel, family activities, ? (approx. 100 words - sentences/point form)
3. Statement of future life goals: a) what I want to accomplish in 5 years.
b) How/where/who I see myself at age 35 c) what I want to do before I die.
Include schooling, job, living conditions (home, type and where), travel, family (married, children) (approx. 150 words - point form please)
4. Documentation must be organized into at least 3 sections. Eg. of sections - a) school, extra-curricular, work b) school, hobbies, family, work, sports. Use section titles that fit YOU. Include such things as:
